The East Devon Radio Control Club was formed in 1946 to bring together modellers interested in radio controlled Aircraft, Helicopters and Boats, and became affiliated to the BMFA in 1999. Our Membership in recent years fluctuates around 60 fully paid up members.
The Club is fortunate in having the use of a flying site on Woodbury Common, approximately 400 yards from Four Firs Cross roads on the road to Yettington in Glorious Devon with lovely views of the countryside and Lyme Bay.
The club has a training scheme for beginners:-
The first stage is an excellent and thorough Ground Training that includes basic theory of flight, and of how a model works, all Safety matters involved with this wonderful sport and beginner’s models will be checked over for flight-worthiness.
Flying tuition will culminate with taking the BMFA ‘A’ Certificate.
Tuition takes place with prior arrangement with the delegated instructor at a time that is convenient to both. Safety is very much encouraged.
Glider towing is popular and there are a number of slope soaring enthusiasts who make frequent trips to various local hills.
Club meetings are held at the Maltsters Inn, Woodbury, Nr. Exeter, at 7.30pm on the last Wednesday of each month from September to May excluding December.
Flying is permitted every day of the year (365 days)
